Ben serves as a Property Accountant for Wadsworth Development Group. At WDG Ben performs accounting functions for 40 entities within the WDG portfolio, including performing bank reconciliations, subledger reconciliation, tenant AR, depreciation, and financial statement preparation. Ben also manages the reconciliation of the investment portfolio to ensure that activity is properly recorded in the accounting system. Ben also collaborates with all the owners on personal financial matters.
Ben has been working in the real estate industry since he received his Bachelor of Science in accounting from Utah State University in 2008. After graduation he went to work for Novogradac & Company in San Francisco where he performed audit and tax services for clients in the multi-family industry specifically related to low-income housing.
In 2010, Ben relocated to his home state of Utah and obtained a position with Cottonwood Residential where he worked first as a property accountant. In his 7 ½ years at Cottonwood, Ben took on various roles within the accounting department but served most of his time as the Financial Consolidation Manager, where he was responsible for drafting quarterly consolidated financial statements for over 70 consolidated entities, for the company’s multi-family REIT.
Ben has a great love for the outdoors and has summited many peaks along the Wasatch Front and even summited King’s Peak, the highest peak in Utah. Ben is also an avid runner and has run several marathons in addition to running half marathons in both Hawaii and Alaska.
